Estoy feliz de estar en una entrada más contigo. El día de hoy te platicaré acerca de una película mexicana de este año. La peculiaridad de esta película es que es de ciencia ficción. Casi no se hace ciencia ficción en México, por lo que es todo un acontecimiento.
La película cuenta la historia de Nora (Lucero) una maestra y científica extraordinaria que vive en la década de los sesenta del siglo pasado y que, por lo tanto, tiene que vivir a la sombra de su esposo Héctor (Benny Ibarra), quien también es científico. Ambos trabajan en una de las universidades más prestigio de México: la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).
El jefe de su área los presiona para que sus investigaciones den resultado o de lo contrario tendrá que cancelarlas. Nora y Héctor invitan a cenar a su jefe y en la plática que tienen con él a Nora se le ocurre una idea que podría ayudarlos con su investigación: el uso de los agujeros de gusano como portales para viajes en el tiempo.
Al principio solo quieren viajar 15 minutos hacia delante en el tiempo, pero por una falla en los cálculos se encuentran varias décadas en el futuro. La película tiene referencias inevitables a Back to the Future (Volver al futuro) y a elementos culturales icónicos.
Nora y Héctor tendrán que confrontar sus creencias acerca del trabajo, las relaciones personales, el lugar de la mujer en el mundo y en general sus prioridades.
Aunque es una película muy bonita creo que estuvo algo apresurada y hubiera sido una buena idea convertirla mejor en una serie o dejar abierta la opción de una secuela.

I’m happy to be with you in another post. Today I want to talk to you about a Mexican movie released this year. This film is a sci-fi one which is remarkable because Mexico doesn’t produce many sci-fi movies.
The movie tells the story of Nora (played by Lucero), a teacher and brilliant scientist living in the 1960s. Because of the era she lives in, she must live in her husband’s shadow. Her husband Héctor (played by Benny Ibarra) is also a scientist. Like Nora, he works at one of the most prestigious universities in Mexico: Autonomous National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM for its initials in Spanish).
Both are under pressure from their boss, as their research has not shown results. The couple invite their boss to dinner in hopes of convincing him to give them more time. During the dinner Nora comes up with an idea that helps them reach their goal: using wormholes to travel through time.
They planned to travel just 15 minutes into the future, but due to a miscalculation, they end up traveling several decades ahead. The movie includes a couple of nods to Back to the Future and references to cultural elements in general.
Nora and Hector are forced to confront their beliefs about their work, their relationship, the role of women in society and their priorities in life.
Even though the movie is beautiful I felt it moved a bit too fast. I think it would be wonderful if it were turned into a series or had the chance for a sequel.
